The Independent online reported yesterday (24th August 2020) that survivors of coronavirus who fell seriously ill with the disease should be screened for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The Covid Trauma Response Working Group, led by University College London, is made up of medical experts and doctors who say tens of thousands of people who were admitted to hospital with Covid-19 should be assessed and checked regularly for signs of PTSD.
More than 100,000 people have been treated for Covid-19 in hospital and the group highlighted research which showed 30 per cent of patients who went through severe illnesses in previous outbreaks had developed PTSD.
Co-Founder of Adjutant Software Ltd, Nicola Cassidy, has personal experience of PTSD and as such she developed the PTSD Hub; an app that allows sharing of coping strategies split in to individual symptoms.
The free app, has already been downloaded over 10,000 times worldwide. You can find more information about it here https://lnkd.in/g6snYn2 or go straight to Google Play/App Store and search for PTSD Hub. #ptsd
